01 · Legal Procedure
Applying for Residence Permit
Official process for your legal stay after arrival in Türkiye.
Upon arrival, Erasmus+ students must apply for a residence permit and obtain an appointment within 30 days, according to the original FSMVU guidance. This permit supports your legal stay in Türkiye during your mobility.
The existing page also states that students who fail to obtain an appointment may be required to leave and re-enter Türkiye and schedule an appointment within 10 days after re-entry. Do not rely on this as a current legal procedure without confirmation from the authorities.

02 · Health & Coverage
Health Insurance Requirement
Valid coverage for the full period of your mobility.
Every international student must have valid health insurance covering their stay in Türkiye. The policy must be recognized by Turkish authorities and remain active throughout the full duration of the Erasmus+ mobility period.
Students may either obtain insurance from a Turkish provider after arrival or use an international policy, provided that the coverage is accepted by the relevant local authorities.

Why is health insurance important?
Health insurance is a key supporting document for the residence permit process and helps protect students against unexpected medical expenses during mobility.
Can I use my own international insurance policy?
Yes, provided that the policy is valid in Türkiye and is accepted by the relevant authorities. Verify the insurance conditions before relying on an international policy.
Can I buy insurance after arriving in Türkiye?
Students may obtain insurance locally after arrival, but it should be arranged without delay and in time for the applicable permit procedure.
