1. Residence Permit

All international students must apply for a residence permit within 30 days after entering Türkiye. Applications are made through the official website of the Directorate of Migration Management:

Documents Required

  • Online application form (from the e-ikamet system)
  • Passport copy (all stamped pages)
  • Two biometric photos
  • Valid health insurance
  • Student certificate (from FSMVU)
  • Proof of accommodation (rental contract or dorm letter)
  • Residence permit card fee receipt

The International Programs Unit (IPU) provides guidance and institutional documents needed for your application.

2. Health Insurance

All incoming students are required to have valid health insurance covering their entire stay in Türkiye. The policy must include inpatient and outpatient treatments and be recognized by Turkish authorities. Students may obtain international or local insurance before or after arrival.

3. Pre-Arrival Checklist

  • Check passport validity (minimum 6 months)
  • Confirm Erasmus+ nomination and acceptance letter
  • Arrange valid health insurance
  • Prepare residence permit documents and digital copies
  • Book accommodation in advance
  • Inform your home university of your travel details
  • Save emergency and contact information

4. Arrival at the Airport

Istanbul has two international airports: Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side and Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) on the Asian side. Public transport options — metro, Havaist buses, and taxis — are available 24/7.

Use navigation tools like Google Maps or Moovit for easy route planning.

5. Orientation Week

At the beginning of each semester, FSMVU organizes an Orientation Week for new incoming students. Participants are introduced to the campus, registration procedures, and academic system. Social and cultural events are held to help students integrate smoothly.
